Cards travel to Warwickshire for first friendly of the season

Woking will play their first game since early May when they travel to Warwickshire to take on Stratford Town.

Cards supporters will hope to see new signings Matt Robinson, Dennon Lewis, Charlie Wakefield, Robbie Willmott, Sam Habergham and Greg Taylor feature at Knights Lane, along with Reece Grego-Cox, who hasn't appeared in 2023 yet after an injury in mid December. But one man who won't feature is Jermaine Anderson; the midfielder continues his rehabilitation following injury at Chesterfield in early February.


Opposition Watch

Stratford Town, also known as the Bards, are from Warwickshire. They play in the seventh tier of English Football, the Southern League Premier Central, and finished 14th last season.

Managed by Gavin Hurren, notable names in the Bards' squad include goalkeeper Liam O'Brien, who played under Darren Sarll at Yeovil, and the step 3 side have already played two friendlies, beating Studley 2-0 at home in midweek, but losing 3-2 to Coventry Sphinx the previous Saturday.

Last Time Out

In last summer's meeting between the sides, the Cards ran out 4-1 victors, with two first half goals from Padraig Amond and a James Daly finish seeing Woking 3-0 up at the break, before Jermaine Anderson made it 4-0, though the hosts did pull a goal back through Curvin Ellis.

Around the Ground

Knights Lane is in Tiddington, about one and a half miles from Stratford-upon-Avon town centre, and has a capacity of 2800. Car parking is £2 a vehicle, and the Community Clubhouse Bar opens from 12 noon, showing Sky Sports and BT Sport.

There are also food options around the ground, with the Snack Bards located next to the Clubhouse.

Admission is £10 adults and £5 concessions, whilst U16s go free.
