Tuesday evening sees the final pre-season friendly before the real thing starts on Saturday, at home to Altrincham. The Saints have lots of exciting young players, including the likes of Bradley Wright-Phillips, and can be sure to give the Cards a tough time. Come along and see how Kim Grant?s side is shaping up!
WOKING
Cards fans will be intrigued, after Saturday?s game against Brentford, to see what side Kim fields for this match. Will all the injured players return? Will it be something like the side we can expect to see on Saturday? Or will there still be one or two trialists or even Academy players involved?
It appears that Kim had wanted to play a much stronger side against Brentford than he was able to do, but he wasn?t willing to risk exacerbating relatively minor injuries. He seems hopeful that he will have most of his squad available tomorrow night.
SOUTHAMPTON
Almost exactly a year ago the Saints provided the opposition for the last pre-season friendly for Frank Gray?s side. That game was lost 2-0,with goals coming from Wright-Phillips and Cedric Baseya. Will Kim?s side fare better on the night and in the months to come?
The Saints were also our opponents in our last game before the 2005-06 season got under way and a young Saints side, including the likes of Dexter Blackstock , was too sprightly for Jimmy Aggrey (I bet you?d forgotten him!) and co, ending up 4-0 winners.
The Saints are likely to field a mix of reserves and youth players but, as previous friendlies against them demonstrate, there will be some exciting prospects among them.
