The Football in the Community scheme was formally launched in 2004 to consolidate and grow the interface between the Club and the local community.
The Football in the Community scheme is an independent group with its own steering committee meeting four time a year, made up of representatives from Woking Football Club, Woking Borough Council, Local Police, Sheerwater Maybury Partnership, WASPS (Woking Association for Primary Schools), Woking & District Secondary Schools Sports Council, Local Health Authority and Surrey FA.
The scheme received the highest accolade by being voted Non League Community Scheme of 2004/05. There are currently fifteen different initiatives being successfully operated:
- Children’s Holiday Schemes
- Disability Soccer Schools
- After School and Lunch time soccer clubs
- Healthy Lifestyle talks and programmes delivered to a variety of audiences
- Provision of work experience placements
- Leading Borough-wide anti racism campaign
- Community Football Tournaments
- Playing For Success
- Football Training and Team Management for Woking Mind
- Deaf Friendly Club
- Hosts of the boroughs Junior Citizens Event
- Schools Penalty Shootout Competitions
- Tours, Parties and Visits to Kingfield.
- WFC Matchday Mascots
- Junior Cards
